Beignets made with TWIX® Cookie Bars
Ingredients
Beignet Dough
- 1 c warm water
- 2 t instant dry yeast
- ⅓ c + 1 T granulated sugar
- ⅔ c whole milk
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 3 T unsalted butter, melted
- 1 t salt
- 4 ⅓ c all-purpose flour
To Fill & Finish
- 1½ c TWIX® Cookies Bars, ⅛” chopped
- ⅓ c powdered sugar
Beignets made with TWIX® Cookie Bars
Makes: 40 beignets
Direction
- Combine warm water, yeast and one tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Mix in remaining sugar, milk, egg, egg yolk and melted butter.
- Add the salt and flour to the above. Using a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment on medium speed.
- Mix for 3 minutes or until dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides. Add extra flour if needed to achieve the desired result.
- Cover the dough and let rise until doubled, about 90 minutes.
- Transfer dough to a floured surface and roll out to 1/4" thickness.
- Portion into 40 equal strips.
- Place 2 t of chopped TWIX® Cookie Bars into center of one half of each strip.
- Wet the outside dough edges and fold dough over top of the filled half and gently press sides to seal product.
- Deep fat fry filled beignets at 350°F for 30 seconds and then flip to the other side for an additional 20-30 seconds.
- Let cool and finish with powdered sugar.
- Serve individually.
